Sen. MacDonald comments on governor’s 2020 budget recommendation

LANSING, Mich. — After listening to the governor’s presentation of her fiscal year 2020 state budget recommendation on Tuesday, Sen. Michael D. MacDonald, R-Macomb Township, issued the following statement:

“As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I am excited to begin working on a budget that continues our economic recovery, meets our pressing challenges, provides essential services and builds a brighter future for all Macomb County families.

“We need to continue to create an environment that attracts new businesses to our state, so Michigan can add more jobs, boost revenue and diversify our economy.

“I applaud the governor for continuing to make education and road funding a priority. We need to ensure every student receives an education that prepares them for success, and we need to improve our roads while ensuring they are built to last.

“While we may have our differences in how to achieve our budget goals, I am confident that we will complete a balanced budget on time that supports our students, fixes our roads, protects our communities, and improves government efficiency.”
