Sen. MacDonald comments on death of Clinton Township police chief

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael D. MacDonald, R-Macomb Township, issued the following statement on Monday after learning of the death of Clinton Township Police Chief Fred Posavetz due to complications of COVID-19:

“Fred Posavetz was committed to serving the people and protecting his community, and I was deeply saddened to learn of his death due to COVID-19 complications.

“He was a great leader and an even better person. Throughout his more than 40 years of exemplary service to Clinton Township families, Fred focused on improving law enforcement and was always able to raise the spirits of his fellow officers and the people he met.

“He will be greatly missed, and my thoughts and prayers are with Fred’s family and friends during this time of tremendous loss.”
