LANSING, Mich. — After listening to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2022 State of the State address virtually Wednesday night, Sen. Michael D. MacDonald, R-Macomb Township, issued the following statement:
“As we try to find common ground on ways to effectively use our historic level of resources to meet the needs of the Michigan people, improve our state, and help build a brighter future, we need to look at providing relief to struggling families and small businesses.
“Although the governor’s words about bipartisanship haven’t always matched her actions, I remain hopeful that we can work together this year to achieve positive solutions for families in Macomb and across our state.
“We were able to come together on the historic Made in Michigan plan to keep and attract businesses and high-wage jobs to Michigan and on a responsible budget with record school funding to help our children safely return to their classrooms while also supporting our workers and protecting our communities. With continued teamwork, we can build on that success.
“Now that the governor has laid out her plans, I look forward to hearing from the people of Macomb about their priorities as I continue to hold events in the district.”
