LANSING, Mich. — After listening to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2021 State of the State address virtually Wednesday night, Sen. Michael D. MacDonald, R-Macomb Township, issued the following statement:
“Families and job providers in Macomb and across the state have made enormous sacrifices during this pandemic, and they deserve positive action from their state leaders to help improve their lives and brighten their future.
“Although last year the governor rejected our efforts to work together on addressing COVID-19, I remain hopeful that she will join us this year to protect our people by ensuring access to the vaccinations and protect the lives and livelihoods of all Michigan families by allowing local businesses to safely reopen and people to get back to work.
“As we face continuing challenges with the coronavirus and the impact of the state’s response, we need to work together to protect our communities, help our students, support our workers and get Michigan moving in a positive direction. Our actions need to solve today’s problems while also building a stronger and healthier future.”
