LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael D. MacDonald on Monday announced the finalists for his “Make Macomb Your Home” local student art contest.
Residents will be able to vote in polls online Monday evening until March 25 to pick the winners in each of three categories: elementary, middle school and high school.
“My goal with this competition was to encourage Macomb County students to help decorate our Lansing office with creative pieces of art that capture life in our community,” said MacDonald, R-Macomb Township. “We had an outstanding response, and it was extremely difficult to narrow down all the submissions to the top finalists. We have many really talented students, and I want to thank everyone who submitted artwork for their creative pieces of art.”
Due to weather, the competition was extended until March 8. Art was either picked up by MacDonald’s district director from local school offices or mailed directly to the senator’s office.
“I look forward to seeing which artistic pieces are selected to hang in our office,” MacDonald said. “The winning artists will also have the chance to visit with me in Lansing to see their art on display and learn about the Capitol.”
The finalists by category are:
Madison H. — sophomore from Parkway Christian School.
Seung Min K. — junior from Parkway Christian School.
Jan P. — senior from Sterling Heights High School.
Jasmena K. — sixth-grader from Carleton Middle School.
Aryan B. — seventh-grader from Carleton Middle School.
