MacDonald offering free tax guide online

LANSING, Mich. — Macomb County residents who are getting ready to file their taxes or want current information can download a free taxpayer’s guide from Sen. Michael D. MacDonald’s website.

“When Michigan residents fill out their tax returns or pay their property taxes, it is important that they have accurate and thorough information,” said MacDonald, R-Macomb Township. “As your state senator, I am proud to offer this useful taxpayer guide free to all Macomb County residents. Tax law is complex and constantly changing, which is why I encourage everyone to review this valuable resource. It could help save families time and money.”

The Michigan Taxpayer’s Guide is a reference for the 2018 tax year and is designed to help residents prepare their state tax returns.

The booklet also contains information for 2019 Michigan property taxes and various tax credits, such as the homestead property tax credit and the home heating credit.

Featured is a year-long listing of important property tax dates and deadlines as well as copies of the most commonly used tax forms. Contact information on how to get assistance with taxes is also included.

MacDonald added that the guide is meant as a helpful resource and not as a substitute for Michigan Department of Treasury tax instruction booklets.
