LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael D. MacDonald on Thursday announced a new legislative aide and a new committee assignment for the 101st Legislature.
MacDonald is now a member of the Senate Economic and Small Business Development Committee and will continue to serve on the Senate Appropriations Committee and Senate Health Policy and Human Services Committee.
“I look forward to a new session working for the people of Macomb and am extremely excited for this new opportunity to help the many small businesses that are the heart of the local and statewide economy,” said MacDonald, R-Macomb Township. “Ensuring we have effective policies that encourage economic growth and development are always important, but no more so than at this moment as we face the short- and long-term effects of the governor’s COVID-19 shutdowns.”
Katlin Viar has joined MacDonald’s staff as a legislative aide and scheduler.
“I am happy to welcome Katlin to my staff to help us provide the best service possible for the hardworking people of Macomb County,” MacDonald said. “She is a native of Shelby Township who understands the issues facing our community and is dedicated to helping improve our state, our region and the lives of Macomb families.”
Viar has a degree in public policy from Western Michigan University and recently worked for two years as the Republican National Committee’s regional field director for Macomb County.
